signing off

Dear bloggy friends just popped in for a moment to inform you that due to some heavy duty health issues I can no longer concentrate on writing a blog. For the time being I will be pulling the pin. It looks like I will be out of action for a while. Hopefully, I will be back up and running  soon, but rest assured I will be reading with interest and keeping an eye on your antics. So it’s goodbye for now and keep up the good work. Keep writing so I have something to look at. Regards to you all and thanks for your efforts,  Jonsey.

Just a quick pic to let you know things are not all doom and gloom. Although the rest of the garden is pretty much on hold we do have this self sown pumpkin that has taken over. Even though its been pretty much neglected it has thrived and gone mad heading off over to the neighbors and has plenty of good sized pumpkin's on it. We will be eating well for a while yet.

Hi Jonesy,

Sorry to hear about your health problems. Take good care of yourself, that's the most important thing.

Sorry to hear you are not well. Best wishes for a solid recovery.

I had a pumpkin plant pop up in my garden last year and it gave us 18 pumpkins and kept us in soup and snacks over winter. I kept some seeds and planted them this summer - hoping for more yummy pumpkin soup.

Maybe this recipe will help you convalesce, it's my favourite.

Saute a chopped onion in a smidgen of chile oil and sesame oil, add chopped pumpkin, soup stock (fresh or powdered), fresh sage and a bit of black pepper. Blend smooth and add milk to get the right consistency. If freezing, only add milk when it's defrosted and ready to heat and eat. The chile and sage is what makes it so scrumptious :)

Hi Sam, Nevyn and Lou thanks for your best wishes, and Lou for the pumpkin soup recipe, pumpkin soup is a favorite of mine for winter soups. I have lots of them but haven't seen that one before so will certainly be giving it a go.

Thanks Gav and Ian, At the moment I am haveing trouble concetrateing enough to write anything and almost incapable of getting any thing done round the house or garden. But I do enjoy reading what every one else is up to and seeing all the great produce you are all getting from your patches. And Ian's little bits and pieces of bike stuff in the city keeps me motivated enough to get out for a short ride on my bikes. Cant handle long rides but an occasional jaunt along the river bank is always good. Thanks agin to you all for your best wishes, jonsey.

Hi Ramsey & Bredbo Valley farm, Love your blog mate and always get a bit of a smile at your sense of humor. And Ramsey, I still have plans to get the odd post in from time to time if I can get motivated enough to write a bit. In the meantime I still like to keep up with what everyone is up to, keeps the spirits up a bit to see that not everyone is completely nuts.

For those of you who have enjoyed my Dad's blog, I am sorry to say that my father passed away in June. I am sorry this isn't a more formal message but I was just cleaning up some old emails and found this link to his last post.
Right until the end Dad pushed back at the world trying to gain a foothold. I know that he appreciated your interest in what he was doing & the kinship and ideas he found in the online community. For the time being Dad's blog will remain up. As you all know he was a keen photographer among other things and some time time in the future we may be able to share more of his ideas & work. But for now on his behalf, let me say "Thank you and goodnight"

So long, Jonesy. It was nice reading your stories and following your journey. Rest well.

Dear Michelle,
I am sad to hear of the loss of your Father. He seemed to be such a nice guy who actually cared! I hope you have lots of proud memories of him.

I hope you keep the blog up even if it is frozen in time as it is a great resource.

Jonesy "walked the walk" having put in practice many of the things he was talking about.
I do miss his articles.
